Curating Life

Disconnected Weekend

My iPhone battery died on Friday evening as I was returning from Guangzhou – chargers were in the office – so I decided to do a little experiment – Disconnected Weekend. So for the first time in my life my mobile phone was off for 60 hours and nothing went wrong in Life. Our weekend plans were hectic – early morning badminton games, a couple of dinners, movies, catching up with friends… everything worked fine.

Makes me really wonder whether the Society is suffering from Compulsive Connectivity Syndrome. Recently I was shocked to see a news about two 12-13 years old Spanish Kids went into depression & had withdrawal symptoms after losing their mobile phones. They needed to go through a rehab facility. There are similar rehab centers for Gaming Addicts in China. Sounds as serious as the drugs.
